Position: Communications Associate
Location: Washington D.C.
Status: Non-Exempt; Full-time
Reports to: Chief of Staff
Position Summary
PNPI’s communications associate will create, implement, manage, and co-lead PNPI’s communications efforts and social media campaigns, including all event and product promotion; design PNPI products (written and video); manage PNPI’s website; and assist in the development and implementation of PNPI events.
The position includes health benefits. The pay range for this position is $46,000- $54,000. Compensation level is dependent on skill set including past work experience.
Essential Responsibilities and Tasks
- Create, implement, manage, and co-lead, PNPI’s communications efforts and social media campaigns, including all event and product promotion.
- Assist in the design of PNPI’s primers, factsheets, event flyers, and other event and development related materials.
- Create and edit PNPI program and promotion related videos.
- Manage PNPI’s website.
- Assist in the development and implementation of PNPI events.
- Special project assistance as needed.
Required Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Ability
- Experience working in communications- minimum of two years.
- Experience working in social media across a variety of social networking platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok).
- Experience creating social media content across varied social networking platforms.
- Experience designing promotional pieces and drafting press releases.
- Experience or familiarity with graphic design tools such as Adobe and Canva.
- Experience with, familiarity with, or a willingness to learn how to create and edit promotional videos.
- Knowledge of google analytics for drafting social media reports and guiding social media strategy.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, WordPress, Mailchimp, and Dropbox.
- Interest in higher education issues and higher education.
- Strong writing and editing skills.
Valued and Non-Essential Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Ability
- Experience with Hootsuite and Magisto (or other video editing software).
- Degree in education, higher education, communications, or public policy.
