PNPI Salaries and Benefits*

When salaries are transparent, pay inequity is minimized. Additionally, research shows that employees are more motivated, more productive, and better at collaborating with colleagues when salaries are shared and published. At PNPI, we are committed to sharing salary ranges. We are also committed to a $50,000 minimum starting salary for all our staff.

Below you will find descriptions and salary ranges for a majority of staff positions at PNPI. Salary ranges represent a full-time employment rate.

Assistants: Provides administrative, communications, logistical, and/or project support and coordination. A minimum of six months of relevant work experience is required. 

PNPI salary range: $50,000-$60,000

Associates: Plays a key role in supporting or implementing a body of work (programming or research) or key organization functions (communications or operations). A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of relevant work experience are required.

PNPI salary range: $55,000-$90,000

Senior Associates: Conducts independent work; creates, facilitates, implements, and manages a body of work (programming or research) or key organization function (communications or operations); represents the organization in external meetings or with external partners. A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of four years of relevant work experience are required.

PNPI salary range: $85,000-$120,000

Directors: Creates, facilitates, implements, and manages an entire portfolio of work (programming, research, communications, operations); manages people; leads external meetings and cultivates outside relationships; assists with the creation and implementation of the organization’s strategic plan. A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of seven years of relevant work experience are required.

PNPI salary range: $110,000-$140,000

COS: Oversees programmatic initiatives, contributes to the strategic direction of the organization, and directs operational functions related to human resources and staff management. A master’s degree and a minimum of eight years of relevant work experience are required.

PNPI salary range: $120,000-$175,000

* Exact salaries will be set based on experience and level of education.

PNPI also offers a full range of benefits to staff who work at least half-time. Those benefits include but are not limited to: three weeks of paid time off; all major federal holidays off; a 6% retirement match; 100% of health insurance costs (medical, dental, and vision) covered plus funds to cover out of pocket expenses; a professional development account; a monthly cell phone benefit; and 12 weeks of paid parental leave.

PNPI Interns

PNPI’s Summer Scholars Program is a fully-funded internship program for students with demonstrated financial need. Our interns are paid a competitive hourly wage, are provided with an incidental stipend, office supplies, and professional development. When the program is held in-person in Washington D.C. they are also provided with transportation and free accommodations.
