PNPI Explorer Blog – Utah

9 December 2024 In Explorer Blog

Welcome back to the PNPI Explorer blog series, where we examine higher education data in different states. This week’s spotlight is on Utah.

In 2022 in Utah, there were 21 institutions serving 181,250 full-time equivalent (FTE) students. Using the Comparison Tool, we can examine the percentage of enrollment at Utah institutions constituted by women, which is among the lowest in the nation at 54.04%. This amount is 2.75 percentage points lower than the national average of 56.79%.

Using the Trend Explorer, we can see how this value has changed over time. While Utah institutions have historically enrolled a lower percentage of women than the national average, the percentage of women enrolled in Utah institutions has slowly increased over the last several years, getting closer to the national average. What was once a 6 percentage point difference has dropped to 2.5 over the course of less than a decade.
