PNPI Explorer Blog – Texas
Welcome back to the PNPI Explorer blog series, where we examine higher education data in different states. This week’s spotlight is on Texas.
In 2022 in Texas, there were 230 institutions serving 1,110,634 full-time equivalent (FTE) students. Using the Comparison Tool, we can examine the average on-campus room, board, and other fees for Texas institutions. Texas institutions have a relatively low average on-campus room, board, and other fee cost at $10.39K, ranking fifth-lowest in the nation and nearly $2K less than the national average of $12.04K.
This low on-campus room, board, and other fee cost is beneficial to students who would otherwise pay more to live near campus. Texas institutions have an average off-campus room, board, and other fee cost of $14.52K. While this is still $1.4K lower than the national average, it remains more than $4K higher than the state’s average on-campus room, board, and fees.
