PNPI Explorer Blog – Tennessee

25 November 2024 In Explorer Blog

Welcome back to the PNPI Explorer blog series, where we examine higher education data in different states. This week’s spotlight is on Tennessee.

In 2022 in Tennessee, there were 80 institutions serving 249,972 full-time equivalent (FTE) students. Using the Comparison Tool, we can examine the percentage of total degrees awarded to women for Tennessee institutions. Women receive 62.43% of degrees awarded in Tennessee, which is almost 2.5 percentage points higher than the national average of 59.94%.

We can further examine this statistic by comparing institutional sectors. Across all sectors, Tennessee institutions award more total degrees to women than men. This is especially true of for-profit institutions in Tennessee, which award 76.5% of all total degrees to women.
