PNPI Explorer Blog – Pennsylvania
Welcome back to the PNPI Explorer blog series, where we examine higher education data in different states. This week’s spotlight is on Pennsylvania.
In 2021 in Pennsylvania, there were 189 institutions serving 535,481 full-time equivalent (FTE) students. Using the Comparison Tool, we can examine the average completion rate at 150% time for Pennsylvania institutions. These institutions have an average completion rate at 150% time of 63%. This is nine percentage points higher than the national average of 54% and is the fifth-highest percentage of all states and territories.
Using the Trend Explorer, we can see that Pennsylvania’s average completion rate at 150% time has trended above the national average in each of the past ten years. While the gap varies year to year, Pennsylvania institutions have routinely outperformed the national average by as many as 11 percentage points.
