PNPI Explorer Blog – Colorado

20 February 2024 In Explorer Blog

Welcome back to the PNPI Explorer blog series, where we examine higher education data in different states. This week’s spotlight is on Colorado.

In 2021 in Colorado, there were 55 institutions serving 223,525 full-time equivalent (FTE) students. Institutions of Higher Education in Colorado had some of the lowest average tuition discount rates out of any state at 18.9%, suggesting that institutional grant aid is relatively low for students attending institutions in Colorado. This is more than 10 percentage points below the national average of 28.95%.

This low discount rate has resulted in a relatively high net price (the price a student will pay after subtracting grant aid from federal, state, or institutional sources) for students attending Colorado institutions. Colorado institutions have an average net price of $17.9K, putting it more than $2K above the national average and in the top quartile among all states.
