Aric D. Fulton, Jr.
Aric D. Fulton, Jr. is a proud South Side Chicago native dedicated to helping young people thrive both in and beyond the classroom. As the inaugural state attendance coordinator at the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE), he partners with schools and local education agencies across the District to strengthen student attendance and ensure educators have the resources and support they need to reduce chronic absenteeism and build systems that promote student success.
Aric began his career teaching in Houston, TX, an experience that continues to ground his work in the realities of schools. He later supported school improvement efforts in Rhode Island and led a strategic initiative at KIPP DC to re-engage alumni and strengthen postsecondary outcomes in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Before assuming his current role, Aric managed two citywide Career and Technical Education (CTE) internship programs at OSSE, connecting students with meaningful career experiences that addressed local workforce needs and expanded access to career-connected learning.
Aric holds an executive certificate in nonprofit management from Georgetown University in addition to a B.S. in secondary education from Ball State University and an A.M. in urban education policy from Brown University. He has been recognized as a Presidential Management Fellow Finalist, Newman Civic Fellow, and 2020 PNPI Summer Scholar.
