PNPI Salaries and Benefits*

When salaries are transparent, pay inequity is minimized. Additionally, research shows that employees are more motivated, more productive, and better at collaborating with colleagues when salaries are shared and published. At PNPI, we are committed to sharing salary ranges. We are also committed to a $50,000 minimum starting salary for all our staff.

Below you will find descriptions and salary ranges for a majority of staff positions at PNPI. Salary ranges represent a full-time employment rate.

Assistants (program/communications)

Program Assistant: provides administrative and logistical support for programs and the overall organization.

Communications Assistant: provides support to communications efforts and social media campaigns and assists in the development and implementation of events.

PNPI salary range: $50,000-$55,000

Associates (program/research/communications/operations)

Program Associate: plays a key role in the creation, facilitation, and implementation of at least one area of programming.

Research Associate: plays a key role in the development or creation of resources and content.

Communications Associate: plays a key role in the development and implementation of PNPI promotion and communications efforts (including social media campaigns).

Operations Associate: plays a key role in organization finances, event logistics, and office management.

PNPI salary range: $55,000-$70,000

Senior Associates (program/research/communications/operations)

Senior Program Associate: plays a lead role in the creation, facilitation, and implementation of at least one area of programming.

Senior Research Associate: plays a lead role in the development or creation of resources and content.

Senior Communications Associate: plays a lead role in the development and implementation of PNPI promotion and communications efforts (including social media campaigns).

Senior Operations Associate: plays a lead role in organization finances, event logistics, and office management.

PNPI salary range: $60,000-$75,000

Associate Directors (program/research/communications)

Co-lead on programming or a key organization function (e.g., research, communications). Represents the organization at external meetings and events. May include managerial responsibilities.

PNPI salary range: $65,000-$85,000

Directors (program/research/communications/operations)

Leads programming or a key organization function (e.g., research, communications). Manages outreach and/or relationship building, assists with strategic planning, and includes management responsibilities.

PNPI salary range: $80,000-$100,000

* Exact salaries will be set based on experience and level of education.

PNPI also offers a full range of benefits to staff who work at least half-time. Those benefits include but are not limited to: three weeks of paid time off; all major federal holidays off; a 6% retirement match; 100% of health insurance costs (medical, dental, and vision) covered plus funds to cover out of pocket expenses; a professional development account; a monthly cell phone benefit; and 12 weeks of paid parental leave.

PNPI Interns

PNPI’s Summer Scholars Program is a fully-funded internship program for students with demonstrated financial need. Our interns are paid a competitive hourly wage, are provided with an incidental stipend, office supplies, and professional development. When the program is held in-person in Washington D.C. they are also provided with transportation and free accommodations.
