A Profile of 2012 ACT-Tested High School Graduates: College Choice Report Part 2, Enrollment Patterns

By Betsy Prueter and Celia Hartman Sims

ACT has recently released data on 2012 high school graduates who took the ACT and enrolled in college. The report focuses on student enrollment patterns. In general and in keeping with past research, higher ACT scores, higher levels of parental education, and higher degree aspirations are associated with a higher likelihood of enrolling in a four-year college, attending a private four-year college, attending school out-of-state, and enrolling in colleges farther away from a student’s home.
